"Music that sounds like home" - host, Priscilla Anyabu.
Soundz of the Diaspora is a weekly high impact 60" curated playlist featuring viral and popular hits across the afrobeats genre. The vision was to encapsulate the rich vivid sounds of the continent, with a catchy alternative look to common African design trends of tribal patterns and jagged shapes.
Combining the rich colours of gold and purple - representing the heat of the continent and richness of the content respectively - music is represented by its delivery mediums from vinyl, CD and digital. This is fused together with fast changing typography to arrest viewers' attention.
Further orbital animation to represent the 'around the world / diaspora' element was added, and a touch of retro from dust and scratches to use of a classic digital font throughout.
The content was designed to be shareable, and invites viewers to screenshot the content for themselves to to send to others.
The design rolls out to space for album art, appearances from special guests, and further elements for social media - and allows for application on onward touchpoints to further deliver its vibrant brand visuals.
